On Monday night, the Indiana School Board heard an update on the damage to the Eisenhower Elementary school.
Members of the school board were able to tour the building to examine the damage. Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro said that the board was taken aback by how much damage was done. The insurance company contractor said that the damage was wide ranging.
The administration was congratulated on the effort to get Eisenhower’s students back in front of their teachers three school days after the fire. The board and administration is hopeful that the school will be repaired and ready to go for the next school year.
In other business, the board got an update on the 2021-22 budget from Business Manager Jared Cronauer. He said that the budget for next year is in excellent shape.
He added that he felt the Eisenhower fire would not have a large impact on next year’s budget.
The preliminary budget will be presented on May 10th for board approval.
In other business, the board accepted an estimate of $375,000 from Shaw Sports Turf to replace the turf at the High School Stadium and a proposal from Penn Fencing to relocate the fence on one side of the artificial turf at an estimated cost of $6000. The board also accepted the proposed ICTC budget for next year, with enrollment determining how much the district will pay.
