Anthony Alford’s perfect day at the plate, along with a go-ahead home run from Will Craig in the seventh inning, gave the Bucs enough offense to beat the Baltimore Orioles, 7-5, Thursday afternoon in Bradenton.
Alford put Pittsburgh out in front in the second inning after hitting a two-run home run and saving two runs on defense with a diving play in left center.
Baltimore was able to tie the game in the third after putting up four runs, but Will Craig would hit a solo home run in the seventh to break the tie. Catcher Arden Pabst would add the lone insurance run later in the inning.
The Pirates now stand at 6-4-1 on the spring and return to action on Friday to take on the Toronto Blue Jays.
