A lengthy virtual meeting for the Pennsylvania Republican Committee last night ended without a decision on whether or not to censure U.S. Senator Pat Toomey for his vote to convict former President Donald Trump.
Jesse Daniel, one of the Indiana County party representatives in attendance last night, said that when it came to a vote, technical difficulties made getting a definitive vote impossible. The meeting ended at 11:30 with no definite decision reached. Daniel said that there will be another meeting next week and another vote to Censure Toomey will be held.
A similar vote is expected to be held tonight during a meeting of the Indiana County Republican Committee. Daniel said they do not expect any of the problems with last night’s state-wide meeting to carry over to tonight’s meeting, and he also expects people to vote their conscience on this issue.
The Republican committee will also vote for a new party chairman tonight, and it is expected that Randy Degenkolb, the current Indiana County Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts, will be elected as the new party chairman.
