At their meeting last night, Indiana Borough Council approved a resolution concerning the borough’s parking fund.
The resolution authorizes the general fund to make up to $75,000 available to the parking fund for the 2021 year to make sure they maintain some solvency. Indiana Borough Manager Michael Foote said that the plan is a backup plan for the parking department.
If any money is taken out, it must be repaid by the end of 2024. Foote said the reason is to make sure that they have ample time in case the department remains financially strained over the next few years.
In other business, council president Peter Broad announced that so far, the borough has received three proposals for solicitor. The deadline for proposals is this Friday. The borough also extended a conditional offer to Hunter Scherf to be a policeman for the borough police department. Final employment is contingent upon completion of the field training program and one year of probationary service. Council also approved a 20-year lease agreement with the Indiana Optimist Club for two lots that house the club’s ballfields on Gabriel Avenue.
