UPDATE: Police wrapped up processing the crime scene and it is open to traffic once again. Police have also seized a vehicle related to the investigation and investigated one of the apartments at the apartment complex. Police were also assisted by the PA Game Commission State Game Wardens. The investigation remains active at this time, and leads are being followed, but police reiterate that there is no current risk to community safety. No arrests have been made.
WHAT WE FIRST REPORTED
Indiana Borough Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Saturday morning in a private parking lot in the 1300 block of Oakland Avenue.
Police say that they were dispatched at 4:07 this morning to the parking lot and when they got there, they found an unresponsive man in his 20’s lying alone in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center and died later on.
The investigation is active and ongoing, and borough police say they have no knowledge of an increased community threat.
Police were assisted in their investigation so far by State Police, IUP Police, Citizens Ambulance, Indiana Fire Association, Indiana County Coroner’s Office and the Indiana County district attorney’s office.
