At Thursday night’s Homer-Center School Board meeting, the board approved the district budget for the 2020-2021 school year and a plan for student athletes to get back on the field in the Coronavirus pandemic.
The budget was adjusted as new federal funding came into the budget, but the budget remained without a tax increase for district residents. Real estate taxes remain at 16.5091 mils.
The board also approved by a unanimous vote the plan for re-socialization of student athletes. The plan will include having temperature checks for the athletes every day for student athletes and record keeping of who would be in contact with each student. High School Principal Jody Rainey said that will help with any contact tracing that would need to be done.
The full plan and a list of frequently asked questions will be posted on the district website, www.homercenter.org
Meanwhile a plan for the entire district is still being discussed and it will come to the board at their meeting in July. The plan will also be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education as per their requirements. In a related matter, Matthew Rodkey was named Pandemic Coordinator.
