Four fire departments were on the scene of a fire yesterday at a home in Clymer Borough.
Indiana County 911 sent the Clymer, Commodore and Cherryhill Township fire departments along with RIT teams from Indiana County and Hope fire department and Citizens’ Ambulance to a home on Hancock Street at 1:26 PM. Clymer fire officials reported heavy flames at the rear of the structure when they arrived and started an aggressive knockdown. Other fire companies joined the fight as soon as they arrived.
While damage was confined to the back of the house and all of the second story, the home was declared unlivable and the one person living there was displaced. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist them.
The blaze reportedly started on the back porch and spread to the house. The exact cause remains unknown, but State Police Fire Marshals were asked to assist with the investigation. No one was hurt.
