The first week of budget hearings is complete, and State Senator Joe Pittman is not optimistic that the budget will be ready for its June 30th deadline.
Pittman said that things are off to a rocky start and one of the big things that’s sticking out for him is the disparity in revenue projections between the Governor’s budget proposal and the Independent Fiscal Office.
While it is still early, he predicts that the budget will not be finalized until after the end of the 2024-25 fiscal year. How long it will take will depend on how flexible negotiators will be.
Budget hearings continue for the state house and senate next week.
