Multiple fire departments were called out for a saw mill fire last night in South Mahoning Township.
Indiana County 911 sent the Plumville, Marion Center, Creekside, Rural Valley, Dayton and Perry Township Fire Departments, The RIT team and Citizens’ Ambulance to the mill on Wise Road at 8:22 PM. Coal Run/McIntyre and Clymer fire departments were called in for standby detail and Commodore fire department provided their recovery trailer. Initial reports said the Shelters Sawmill was on fire by the time crews arrived. Officials with the Plumville fire department said that the building was destroyed, but they were able to prevent a neighboring mill from catching fire.
While the cause of the fire is unknown, it is not considered to be suspicious in nature. Fire officials said that the owners of the mill said work had finished at 4 PM that day and there were no problems reported at that time.
