A Cambria County man who killed a Blairsville woman in 2016 was ordered to serve life in prison without parole.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that 50-year-old Christopher Rowe was convicted last November of first-degree murder, aggravated assault and false reports to law enforcement connected with the 2016 death of his former girlfriend, Kaylene Roedel of Blairsville. Her death came six days after Rowe was released from jail on bond for a domestic incident between the two. After she disappeared, police went to Roedel’s home and found Rowe and his new girlfriend loading belongings into a U-Haul and into Roedel’s SUV. Her body was found on a trial in Johnstown on August 7th of 2016. It was revealed during the trial that Rowe threatened Roedel at her workplace, days before she went missing.
In a statement, Henry said that Rowe “ended one life and devastated many others with the premeditated and cold-hearted killing of the mother of his child. We hope this first-degree murder conviction and life sentence – which ensures he will never harm another person in free society – provide a sense of justice for Kaylene’s family and friends.
