Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi announced on Wednesday that the Superior Court of Pennsylvania upheld the conviction and sentence of 61-year-old Robert Adams of Marion Center. Adams, who was previously convicted of Indecent Assault, was required to register under Megan’s Law, mandating accurate updates on residence, employment, and vehicles. An investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police revealed Adams provided false information about his residence.
In October 2023, a jury found Adams guilty after less than an hour of deliberation in a trial prosecuted by then-Assistant District Attorney Tony Sottile and he was sentenced to serve five-to-ten years in state prison. Adams later appealed to the Superior Court, claiming insufficient evidence, an improper sentence, and errors in the trial process. The court denied the appeal, affirming the evidence presented at trial and the sentence as appropriate.
Manzi said in a statement quote “Our attorneys ensure convictions are backed by proper evidence, and our courts uphold the law diligently.” He adds “This case sends a clear message that violations of Megan’s Law will be prosecuted aggressively. I’m pleased this conviction remains intact, keeping Adams incarcerated where he belongs.”
