At the Homer-Center Parents’ Baseball Tournament on a soggy Saturday, Homer-Center won its seventh straight game and eleventh of its last twelve, battering Summit Academy, 15-0 in four innings.
The Wildcats jumped to a 3-0 first inning lead, then added single runs in the second and third before breaking it wide open with a clinching ten-run fourth.
Catcher Brayden Rado led the way with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, including a triple and three runs driven in. Ethan Palmer and Noah Turk each had two hits in a thirteen-hit Wildcats attack.
Matt Zerfoss threw all four innings for Homer-Center, giving up three hits and walking two while striking out five.
Next up for Homer-Center is a key Heritage Conference West two-game series with West Shamokin, on Tuesday and Thursday. The Wildcats are 12-3, 10-2 in the Heritage Conference. The Wolves are 9-3, 7-1 in the conference, but they will play Purchase Line on Monday, so their current record will change before Tuesday’s first pitch.
We’ll have Tuesday’s game from First Commonwealth Bank Field on Renda Digital TV, with first pitch scheduled at 4:30.
