Homer-Center split a non-conference doubleheader with Glendale, losing the first game, 11-6, but winning the second, 12-3. In the opener, Glendale scored five in the sixth inning to erase a 5-4 deficit. Seven different Wildcats had a hit each. In the nightcap, Homer-Center scored six runs in the third inning to take a 7-2 lead and cruised home from there. Melanie George had two hits and Jo Howard walked four times, as the Wildcats collected eleven walks overall and stole eleven bases. Bekah Marshall struck out eight to get the win.
Unbeaten Marion Center beat River Valley, 5-2. Cheyenne Silvis and Natalie Black each had three hits and Brookelynn Hill had two. In the circle, Silvis topped the 400 career strikeout mark and now stands at 404.
West Shamokin pummeled Penns Manor, 18-7. The Wolves’ Maddi Keirn had two hits and drove in four runs. Briar McClafferty also had two hits. Alli Rhea had two hits and four RBIs for the Comets.
The first of two big softball matchups in the Heritage Conference this week happens this afternoon when Marion Center hosts West Shamokin. Both teams carry undefeated conference records into the game and they will turn it around and play again at West Shamokin on Thursday.
- BASEBALL
River Valley plated five in the sixth then held off a Marion Center rally to top the Stingers, 11-9. The Panthers blasted four home runs, two of them by Zeke Doak. Sammy Yanits and Merreck Smith also went long. For Marion Center, Troy Slovinsky was 4-for-4 with a homer, a double, and four RBIs. Trey Slovinsky had two hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs. Trent Slovinsky had three hits and Cam Rising had two.
Northern Cambria belted West Branch, 12-4, in a non-conference game, upping the Colts’ record to 12-1. They are 10-0 in the Heritage Conference.
Renda Digital TV has this afternoon’s Purchase Line/Homer-Center game. The Wildcats are 8-3 and 7-2 in the Heritage Conference while the Red Dragons come in at 2-8 and 0-7. First pitch is at 4:30. We’re on the air at 4:15.

Indiana doubled up Moon, 8-4, as Garrett Goodrich netted three goals and Payne McClure two. Also finding the net were Parker Bowersox, Jacob Wood and Max Campisano.
