PennDOT is notifying drivers that a very large load is making its way from Allegheny County to Columbiana, Ohio, and will go through parts of Indiana, Westmoreland and Jefferson Counties.
The super load is carrying a 136-feet long, 27-feet eight-inch wide steel cone that weighs over 150 tons. It will start on the Tri-Boro Expressway in Allegheny County, then go on to Routes 130, 48 and then Route 22 into Indiana County, where it will take Route 286, Alpine Village Drive, then back on to 22 then 119 into Jefferson County, where it will continue to I-80 to the PA-Ohio Border.
A rolling slowdown will be employed using two traffic lanes. It will result in speeds of about 25-30 miles an hour or slower, along with traffic stoppages and travel delays. Drivers are asked to remain alert and use alternate routes when possible.
