The Pirates suffered through a lost weekend in Cincinnati, losing all three games to their Central Division rival, the Reds. Greg Brown recaps Sunday’s loss.
On the Ben Cherington Show yesterday on WCCS, the Pirates’ general manager said tonight’s game is a big one for the Bucs, but not because of any worries about Skenes.
Cherington says David Bednar is doing well pitching in Indianapolis, where he is trying to find his game. Bednar has made four appearances without allowing a baserunner at Indy, including a scoreless inning yesterday.
ALTOONA CURVE
Altoona was pounded by Akron, 13-1 yesterday. The only highlight was a two-hit day for Tres Gonzalez. The Curve are off today and will open a six-game home series against Somerset, the Yankees affiliate, tomorrow night.
