Joan A. (Rhine) Ewing, 80, of Homer City, went home to the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2025. She was born in Indiana on July 22, 1944, to Wilbur and Alma (Hollenbaugh) Rhine. Joan was an associate member of the Luciusboro Wesleyan Methodist Church, Homer City. Joan attended the United School District in Armagh, PA.
She is survived by her daughter, Quindella Ewing of State College PA, her mother Alma (Hollenbaugh) Rhine (106) of Homer City, Brothers Ken (Donna) Rhine, Sr, and Lawson Rhine Sr., and sister-in-law Jean Rhine, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by her caregiver, which turned into a best friend, Connie Bateman.
Joan is preceded in death by her Father Wilbur Rhine, a brother Harvey Rhine, Sr., nephew Michael Rhine, niece Barbara (Rhine) Kotelnicki, and sister-in-law, Carol A. Rhine.
Joan is described as being the kindest person to anyone that ever met her, she didn’t meet anyone she didn’t like. She always had a smile on her face. She was faced with health issues as a young child that continued into her last days on this earth, but never complained about them, ever, her family thinks she should have complained about some of them.
She was a mom and caretaker of the house. She helped her parents with all kinds of things on their small farm by especially helping harvest the fruits and vegetables; by getting all the canning supplies ready, this was a tremendous help to her parents. Her last several years, she enjoyed her search-word books and jigsaw puzzles. She loved feeding the wild birds year-round, with lots of bird feeders and watching them through the window in the living room. She also thoroughly enjoyed watching the “older” (1950s’-1970s) TV shows through her DVD collection, her nighttime ritual.
