In Harrisburg, the third and final week of budget hearings gets underway tomorrow before the House Appropriations Committee, where the Department of Corrections and the Public Utility Commission are scheduled. On Tuesday, the Department of Human Services will take both the morning and afternoon sessions. Wednesday’s schedule features the Insurance Department and PENNIE and the Pennsylvania Treasury. On Thursday, testimony will be taken from the Auditor General’s office and the Governor’s Office of the Budget and Executive Offices.
The Senate committee begins hearings on Tuesday with Corrections and Parole, and Emergency Management and Fire Commissioner. On Wednesday, it’s Human Services, and on Thursday, the Governor’s Budget Office and the Executive Offices.
Governor Shapiro has proposed a $51.47 billion budget, a 7.5 percent increase over the current fiscal plan.
