Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council approved a request for the third annual Pride festival to be held at IRMC Park on June 14th.
Many people were in attendance at the meeting to give their opinions on the festival. They included Tony Greenwalt of Indiana, who said that he had a problem with it being held at IRMC Park and potentially exposing children to lewd behavior.
One of the organizers, known as Kat, said they have one mission with the festival.
The vote went 6-2 in favor of holding the Pride Festival. Tamara Collazzo and Jessica Frick voted against it. Collazzo said that her concerns were more along the lines of public safety, saying that she saw lewd behavior in public.
In response, Kaycee Newell said there were no prior reports by police of any wrongdoing.
The board also approved the Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival for May 24th and a Summer Family Fun Fest on June 7th.
