A service dog that was named after Jimmy Stewart from the group Warrior Canine Connection paid a visit to the Jimmy Stewart Museum on Monday.
“Jimmy” is now a 13-month old Labrador Retriever that is being trained to become a service dog through the group based out of Boyds, Maryland, and yesterday acted as a hand-off ceremony as he continues his training with another volunteer. Hayley Swisher has been training “Jimmy” and said that it’s been good so far.
Now its on to the next phase of training, and with a new trainer, Sue Watson out of Pittsburgh, keeping “Jimmy” in Western PA.

Officials with Warrior Canine Connection said he will continue his training and work with veterans who will also benefit from the training at Duquesne University. Plans are to have him with a veteran when he turns two years old next year.
