Blairsville Police have released some plans for parking restrictions ahead of the viewing for Black Lick Fireman and Burrell Township Supervisor Dan Shacreaw, who died last Saturday.
Police anticipate a large number of firefighters, police and EMTs and their vehicles on Thursday for the planned first-responders only visitation from 6-8 PM at Shoemaker Funeral Home. To accommodate these vehicles, there will be no parking on North Spring Street from West Campbell to West Market Streets, West Campbell from North Spring to North Walnut Streets, and West North Avenue from North Spring to North Walnut Streets on Thursday from 4-9 PM. Signs will be posted in those areas. Friends and family will be received the following day at the funeral home.
For the funeral on Saturday, traffic delays are expected between 10:30 and 11:00 AM as police will stop traffic for the funeral procession to go through town. Once the service is done, traffic will be stopped again to allow the procession to return to the funeral home. There will be no parking signs posted along North Stewart Street from East Market Street to East Sugar Alley to allow easier navigation by the vehicles involved in the procession.
