The Armstrong-Indiana Intermediate Unit Board of Directors has renamed their Friend of Education award to honor the memory of their late executive director.
The new name will be the Dr. Brigette Matson Friend of Education Award. It recognizes a person or organization who has fostered and promoted education and the success of students within Armstrong and Indiana counties. Recent recipients included CJ Spadafora with Colonial Motor Mart and Mark Wyant from Freeport.
ARIN Director of Human Resources and Operations Amanda Lutton said this is a great honor for Matson, who served as the executive director from 2021 until her death earlier this year.
The award will be given at the next ARIN convention in April of 2025 at Leechburg Area School District.
