One of Indiana County’s Commissioners has announced her resignation at a meeting this morning.
Robin Gorman was first elected to the Indiana County Commissioners in November of 2019.
Prior to her time with the County Commissioners, she served the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, starting in the workforce development department of the School of Continuing Education and in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology in 2000.
In 2005, she became the executive assistant to then-IUP President Tony Atwater. She served in a similar position under current President Dr. Michael Driscoll.
During her time at IUP, she was one of the founding members of the Indiana Area Collaborative Team to help deal with community-university celebratory events like Homecoming and IUPatty’s Day.
During her time as Commissioner, she helped lead the county through the Covid-19 Pandemic and continued the mission of current and former commissioners to bring broadband internet access to under-served areas of the county.
Gorman thanked fellow Commissioners Mike Keith and Sherene Hess, as well as the many residents she served for making her time as Commissioner worthwhile.
Gorman is stepping down in the middle of her second term of office to become vice president of Homer City Redevelopment, LLC. She said she will use her experience to aid her in her new position.
As far as a replacement nominee goes, the county court of common pleas will fill her vacancy with someone under the same political affiliation, as per state code.
