Indiana attorneys Geoffrey Kugler and Pat Dougherty have been appointed to represent Brian Bradley Giles of Johnstown in his Cambria County homicide trial.
The 48-year-old Giles is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and making a false report. He’s accused of strangling to death his girlfriend, 48-year-old Jilly Todaro, in December of 2020 and burying her body in the basement of a home in which he formerly lived in Johnstown’s Kernville neighborhood. In June, Giles was found guilty of first degree murder in the 2018 death of his wife, Nancy, whose skeletal remains were found in a shallow grave near a trail in the vicinity of the Johnstown Inclined Plane in 2021. Todaro’s body was found the next day. She was described by police as Brian Giles’s girlfriend after Nancy Giles had disappeared.
Giles was sentenced to life in prison and is currently being held at the Cambria County Prison awaiting further court action. He was to have a preliminary hearing on Friday but District Judge Brian Subich continued the hearing to September 20th after he was informed that Kugler and Dougherty had agreed to represent the defendant.
