Next Wednesday marks the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, and IUP will be paying tribute with a special ceremony on campus.
Ceremonies will be held during the university’s “common hour” starting at 11:10 AM in front of the 9/11 memorial in the Oak Grove. Along with IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll, 1995 IUP graduate and President of the Foundation for IUP James Leda will give remarks during the event. Leda was in New York when the attack happened, working with Merril Lynch at its global headquarters in the World Financial Center, one block away from the World Trade center. Music will be provided by the IUP Wind Ensemble.
The ceremony will also serve as a remembrance for the three IUP alumni who died in the World Trade Center attacks: William Moskal, Donald Jones and William Sugra.
If the weather turns bad, the ceremony will be moved to Gorrell Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
