At last week’s meeting of the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, State Senator Joe Pittman said that he and his colleagues are in contact with officials in Clymer Borough to help with recovery from the flooding last month. Governor Josh Shapiro issued a disaster emergency proclamation that eventually included 28 counties in Pennsylvania that were affected by Hurricane Debby, including Indiana County. That proclamation expired after 21 days, as constitutionally mandated.
Last week, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency issued a report to the governor about the flooding, noting that PennDOT has completed bridge inspections from the areas that were flooded. Across the state, twelve bridges remain closed, one is partially closed, and twenty-one bridges are damaged, with repairs in progress. No bridges in Indiana County appear to have been damaged.
