On Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council discussed an issue with federal Covid-19 money.
The conditions for the American Rescue Plan funds state that the money must be distributed by the end of the year, or the money must be returned to the federal government. Borough manager Nicole Sipos said that Indiana Borough received $1.7 million and all but roughly $100,000 has been allocated. Sipos said that they are going to talk about reallocating the money that can be spent by the end of the year deadline.
Also discussed was the attendance policy for the members of council. Council President Luke DeBuyser said that this discussion started last year, but has been a lingering point.
The policy that was suggested was that no borough council member can miss more than seven required meetings in a 365-day period, or no more than four consecutive required meetings. DeBuyser hopes that the policy will be up for approval next month.
