On Wednesday Indiana County Commissioners approved a cooperation agreement connected with the move of New Story from Indiana to Blairsville area.
The agreement is with NNS Propco, LLC to administer a $500,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant for various building and site improvement projects at the Corporate Campus Business Park in Burrell Township. The company has come to terms with the county Development Corporation to acquire the property at 486 Cornell Road, the former National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining facility, and turn that into the latest New Story campus.
Byron Stauffer from the office of planning and development said that the reason for the move is that New Story has outgrown its current facility in Indiana.
Also during the meeting, commissioners approved a contract with H&L Builders of Woodbury to build a pole barn for a maintenance building and garage along with a lean-to equipment shed. Their bid was the lowest of three presented at $411,000. Bids initially came in at $1.9 million, but the costs were reduced as the bids were well over the budgeted costs. The main cut was the downgrading of the maintenance building to a pole building, which brought the project cost back down to original estimates.
The commissioners also announced that the courthouse will be closed on Thursday, July 4th for Independence Day.
