IUP’s magical run in the Division II College World Series came to an end yesterday afternoon in Cary, North Carolina, as Angelo State rebounded from Thursday’s loss with a 7-3 win.
Angelo State jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings, then added another run in the fifth and sixth innings to pull ahead for good. IUP’s only offense came from Saltsburg grad Brady Yard, who drove in a run with a single in the fourth, and senior Zach Miller, who hit a two-run home run in his final career at-bat in the ninth.
IUP committed three errors in the game. Yard and David Kessler had two hits while Harrison Pontoli added a double.
IUP ends its season 41-18 overall with an appearance in the semifinals of the College World Series.
