The founding dean of IUP’s proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine has been elected a fellow of the American College of Neuropsychiatrists.
Dr. Miko Rose now becomes one of less than 150 people to receive this title. Candidates for fellowship are nominated by two other members of the Fellows of the ACN/ACONP and are reviewed by their board of governors for approval. Her formal installation will take place at the group’s convention and scientific seminar in September.
In a statement, IUP Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Laura Leutkehans said that the recognition is a very well-deserved one, and said that the university was lucky to have Rose on board as the founding dean. Rose said that she was honored to be named a fellow, as the goals of the organization of promoting the art and science of osteopathic medicine in the fields of neurology and psychiatry; maintaining and further evaluating proficiency standards and training; to inspire original research and distribute the results of that work mirror her own goals. She said she was “excited about the opportunities that my membership in this prestigious organization can bring to students and faculty at IUP’s college.”
