IUP took a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the 9th in their PSAC playoff game against East Stroudsburg yesterday, but the Warriors beat up the Crimson Hawks’ bullpen, scoring five runs to win the game 6-5.
As a steady rain turned into a heavy rain, the Warriors’ rallied to tie the game on an RBI double and then they won it on a wild pitch.
Ricardo Aponte had three hits and three RBIs for IUP and robbed the Warriors of extra bases with a leaping catch at the wall. Harrison Pontoli and Au’sean Owens each had two hits.
IUP will play Shippensburg, a 10-8 loser to West Chester, at 10:30 this morning in an elimination game.
