PennDOT has announced that the project to replace some structures over Marsh Run in the area of Wayne and Carter Avenues will resume next week.
This marks the next phase of the resurfacing project that started in 2023 on Wayne Avenue in Indiana Borough and White Township. Because of this, there will be some traffic restrictions and road closures in place during that time. Traffic on Wayne Avenue will be restricted to one lane in each direction with an 11-foot lane width restriction in place between Hospital Road and Maple Street. Lane shifts are also expected on Wayne Avenue. Carter Avenue is also expected to be closed from Wayne Avenue to South 7th Street.
The closures start next Monday and end on August 16th, just prior to the start of the Indiana County Fair. A detour will utilize South 6th Street and Indian Springs Road to get to Wayne Avenue. There will be no left turns onto Hospital Road from Wayne Avenue, and drivers will use Pratt Drive to get to hospital road. A Pedestrian Detour will also be in place in front of the KCAC.
The project is expected to wrap up in October.
