State police have announced their plans for their annual IUPatty’s detail.
Troopers will be out in full force starting today and running through Sunday. During that time, state troopers from the Troop A barracks will be joined by the mounted unit, the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement and others to provide increased traffic enforcement activities and supplemental roving patrols. Not only will police be on the lookout for DUI, public intoxication and disorderly conduct, they will also look for people obstructing roads, scattering rubbish and other offenses. As the mounted patrol will be in town, people are reminded that intentionally or knowingly taunting, beating, tormenting or striking a police animal is a third-degree felony.
Troop A Public Information Officer Cliff Greenfield said while the police presence will be increased over the weekend, troopers are reminding residents, IUP students and out-of-county visitors that their main goal is to keep the public safe.
Indiana Borough Police unveiled their plans during Monday’s I-ACT committee meeting. They, too, will be out in full force over the four-day period. As in previous years, they advise people to not take to roofs to gather, as it is dangerous and prohibited.
