The River Valley School Board received another update on the wire fraud investigation at last night’s meeting.
District solicitor Ryan Cribbs announced that the district was approved for an insurance claim of $239,905.92. Combined with the $486,222.91 that Cribbs announced last month, it brings the district to $726,129.91. That also reflects the $10,000 retention deductible the district has paid to the insurance company. Once the retention is accounted for, the district has been made whole for the loss from the fraud. Board President Rick Harper said that in the future, the board and the district will need to put some protocols in place to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
In other business, the board approved the purchase of a scissors lift from Certified Lift Specialists at a cost of $13,995. The money to pay for it comes from the Career and Tech Ed Supplemental Grant.
