On February 8th, 2024, Mark A. Fritz received his heavenly reward. Born September 2nd, 1959 to Mary and William “Jack” Fritz, Mark lived his whole life in Blairsville, and worked over 40 years for his own construction business. A labor of love and God given talent. A man of great faith, Mark loved the Lord with all his heart, and lived his life in kindness and generosity. If he knew of someone in need, he would give anything he could, even if he didn’t have much himself. A lover of the outdoors, Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, making many precious memories through the years.
Mark was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He believed in hard work, but also good fun. He found joy in it all, and he leaves behind many who love him, and will miss him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Darla Fritz (Goodlin), of Blairsville; his adoring daughters, Ashley (Brad) Siverd and Alicia (Zach) Dixon and grandson, Jameson Dixon, who was a light in his world. His siblings: Debi (Bobby) Brown, Jack (Kate) Fritz, Rick (Rose) Fritz, Troy (Sarah) Fritz and Chad (Jennifer) Fritz; bonus brother, Todd Goodlin, special nephew and coworker, Jeff Straw, and many other dear nieces and nephews and in-laws. He was proceeded in death by his parents; his sister, Vicky Fritz, and his in-laws, Arky and Moodie Goodlin.
Mark fought a valiant battle against cancer, and ultimately he won. He leaves behind a legacy that many don’t, even if they have a hundred years. He supported many ministries and charity organizations, but one that was special to his heart was Heart Beat High School, which is an orphanage and educational facility in Kenya. He felt moved to support the teachers there as they are unpaid, and he wanted bright futures for all of the children. A photo of Mark hangs on the wall at Heart Beat, and the children pray for him daily. They mourn with us, and the difference he made there will never be forgotten. The Fritz family would like to take this moment to thank everyone who has reached out with love and support throughout the last few months. We can’t express how grateful we are.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Ferguson Funeral Home in Blairsville. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 12th at 11:00 am at Summit Church of Blairsville with Rev. Rick Fritz and Rev. Chad Fritz, officiating.
The benefit for Mark on Saturday, February 10th is proceeding as scheduled, as a celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the Heart Beat High School, through donations payable to West Lebanon Community Church, 228 Marble Drive, Indiana, PA 15701. All donations will be forwarded to Heart Beat High School.
