A former Pittsburgh Steeler and an Indiana businessman were honored at an event Saturday night to benefit the United Way of Indiana County.
At last night’s “Evening of Hope” at the Indiana County Country Club, former Steeler Ryan Shazier spoke to the crowd at the Indiana Country Club, telling his story of the tackle that paralyzed him, his road to recovery, and how he has been able to maintain a positive outlook. He said that the one thing he wanted people to walk away with last night was that hope can be powerful.

During the event, CJ Spadafora was honored by the United Way for his philanthropy and for serving the Indiana community. The owner of Colonial Motors, Colonial Toyota and Mark Arbuckle Nissan talked about what the award meant to him and that Indiana is a special community.
Both were honored by Indiana Mayor Bill Simmons with dedications of January 27th as both Ryan Shazier Day and C.J. Spadafora Day. Shazier was also presented with the Key to Indiana County by Senator Joe Pittman. The awards ceremony and dinner event was a fundraiser for the 2023-24 fundraising campaign for the United Way of Indiana County.
