The Indiana School Board will meet tonight and will vote on a resolution that will schedule a public hearing on the future of Horace Mann elementary school.
According to the draft agenda, the board will consider scheduling the section 780 hearing on February 15th at 6:00 PM in the Indiana High School Auditorium. The topic that will be up for discussion will be determining alternate uses for or the potential closure of the Horace Mann elementary building at the end of the 2024-25 school year. The public would be invited to not only attend, but to offer testimony on what to do with the building.
This would mark the first opportunity for the board to discuss the future of Horace Mann. After the hearing, there would be a mandatory “cooling off” period before an official vote on the school’s fate can be taken. During that period, further research can be done on the subject.
Also on tonight’s agenda is the a contract between the district and IUP to use the KCAC for the use of the facility for Indiana High School’s Graduation ceremonies.
The meeting starts tonight at 7:00 at the District Board Room.
