Fredrica M. (Kopchick) Ashbaugh, 77, of Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at home, with her loving husband and family by her side.
She was born in 1946, the first born of the late Nicholas and Mary (Richardson) Kopchick.
Freddie lived in Indiana most of her life and was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish. She graduated from Indiana Area High School in 1964, and attended IUP, majoring in Art and Special Education.
While in college she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Robert Ashbaugh. They were married in 1968 and a few years later were blessed with a son and a daughter. Freddie enjoyed being a mom and grandma. She felt like their children and grandchildren were truly gifts from God.
She worked as a display and merchandise support manager for Sears and took an early retirement at age 50. She spent the next 15 years working with people with disabilities as an employment training specialist and job developer for ICW and as and activity aide at the CLL adult training facility.
Freddie enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, traveling far and wide on family history quests with her husband and collecting and restoring antiques. She loved vacation trips to the beach, especially with family and was grateful that she and Bob lived close enough that they could attend the grandkids’ recitals, school musicals and sports events.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Leslie (Joseph) Corey, and her son, Nicholas (Patrice) Ashbaugh; her grandchildren, Hannah Corey, Drew Corey and Eva Grace Ashbaugh; her sister, Margaret (Ronald) Isenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
