Four state representatives are encouraging the House to take action against school shootings across the commonwealth.
Representatives Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, Lisa Borowski, Justin Fleming, and Kyle Donahue are encouraging the state house to co-sponsor Alyssa’s Law, which is named in honor of Alyssa Alhadeff, who was killed in the Parkland school shooting in 2018. The legislation would require or permit schools to install silent panic alarm buttons in classrooms, and would be directly linked to law enforcement responders and signal a life-threatening emergency.
Alyssa’s Law was passed in New Jersey, Florida, New York, Texas, and Tennessee, and is pending in five other states.
