State Senator Joe Pittman and State Representatives Jim Struzzi and Brian Smith announced that over $3.4 million in public infrastructure grants have been awarded to Indiana County communities for five projects.
The Central Indiana County Joint Sanitary Authority will receive $1.9 million in Covid-19/ARPA H2O PA grant funding for sewer system improvements in Center Township and Homer City Borough. Another $827,778 in H20 PA grant funding was given to Highridge Water in Burrell Township for a water line extension project. $390,150 will also go to Homer City Borough and Center Township through the Coivd-19 ARPA PA Small Water and Sewer program via the Central Indiana County Water Authority. Another Small Water and Sewer program grant of $289,000 was awarded to Ernest Borough Stormwater Authority for the Second Street Storm Water project.
In a joint statement, Struzzi said that the credit for the grants goes to the township supervisors and borough council members who started the grant process, and while infrastructure projects are expensive, “you can’t put a price on the health and safety of our residents.”
The fifth grant was a $10,000 Covid-19 ARPA Arts and Culture Recovery Program to the Pennsylvania Rural Arts in Indiana Borough to cover operating expenses.
