Indiana Borough Police and the County’s District Attorney say that reports of a shooting in Indiana Borough have been unconfirmed.
According to a news release from police, they along with other law enforcement officers were notified of a report of “gun violence” within Indiana Borough. As of 8:45 PM Thursday, the reports have been unfounded. Police have responded to multiple locations within the borough based on information from Indiana County 911 and they have not validated that there has been a shooting or other gun-related incident.
District attorney Robert Manzi said that there is the possibility that this could have been a “swatting” incident, but they are still taking this investigation very seriously.
The investigation remains active at this time and there is a visibly increased police presence in the borough. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call 911 immediately.
