Several motions hearings are on the schedule for today at Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas. Among those due in court today include a man who is charged with rear-ending a state police cruiser with his pickup truck along with other crimes in an incident in February of 2023.
The hearing is for a supplemental motion for an omnibus pre-trial motion concerning the case of David Paul Dilts, Jr. The 40-year-old from Penn Run is charged with rear-ending a cruiser on February 24th of last year. After the collision, he got out and became combative with police officers. When troopers tried to administer field sobriety tests, he became angry and refused to follow commands. While he was handcuffed, he spat a chunk of chewing tobacco in the officer’s face. He was later taken to IRMC for a legal blood draw, then placed in Indiana County Jail. Police spotted a white powdery substance around his nose and believe that he may have been on drugs at the time. He is due back in court next month for a criminal call hearing.
Also due in court today is 66-year-old Patrick Williams of Indiana, who faces charges of rape by forcible compulsion and involuntary deviate sexual assault of someone under 16 years of age. The charges go back to incidents in 1995 when he sexually assaulted two victims. The victims informed Indiana Borough Police in May of 2022 and arrested Williams after a five-month investigation. During today’s hearing, President Judge Thomas Bianco will consider a motion filed by Williams to quash the charges.
