While Downtown Indiana held its light up night two weeks ago, some other communities are gearing up for their own holiday season kickoff celebrations tonight and tomorrow.
Homer City will hold its light up night celebration tonight in the area of the Homer City Fire Hall. A craft bazaar will be set up from 5-8 PM. Kids will also be encouraged at that time to drop off their letters to Santa and to include a return address. Food will be provided by the Homer City Fire Department and at 6:00, the fire department and the Homer City Marching Band will hold a parade through town that will escort Santa Claus to the firehall. At 6:30, the community Christmas tree will be lit and Mayor Arlene Watanosky and Chief Anthony Jellison will present the 2023 citizen of the year award.
Also tonight is the Clymer Borough Tree Lighting Ceremony. It is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. The ceremony starts with a parade from the Clymer Fire Hall to Tate Park that will include the Penns Manor Marching Band and a visit from Santa. Light refreshments will also be available.
Blairsville Light-up festivities will be held tomorrow starting at 11 AM with a cookie walk through the downtown business district. First stop is the BCDA Office on West Market Street, where you will receive a list of businesses taking part and a cookie box. The Blairsville Community Brass Band will perform at the Diamond starting at 4:30. At 5:00, the parade will step off at Tractor Supply and ending at the Diamond. River Valley Homecoming Queen Emma Prenni will light the Christmas Tree following the parade. There will also be a visit from Santa, street performances and music from Wave Rider DJ Services.
