IUP had its chances against Walsh last night at the KCAC, but the Crimson Hawks’ inexperience showed as they faded down the stretch and fell to the Cavaliers. Jack Benedict has the recap.
Coach Joe Lombardi says his team is inexperienced but will learn from the loss, and so will he.
The coach said IUP has the talent to beat a team like Walsh, but some of his players who have never played 30 minutes in a game will have to work on conditioning themselves for the grind of the season, and they’ll also need to grow into playing roles at the college level that they’ve never played before.
IUP will return to action next week in the IRMC Thanksgiving Classic at the KCAC. They’ll play nationally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday the 25th and Frostburg State the next night. The PSAC schedule begins December 1st and 2nd with a trip to Shippensburg and Lock Haven.
The IUP women will play at Goldey Beacom tomorrow night before getting the rest of the month off. Their next action will be the PSAC openers December 1st and 2nd as part of doubleheaders with the men.
