Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl has released a statement about an investigation into some incidents in the Downtown Indiana business district where people were harassed by apparently the same individual.
Police say that they received a report on October 21st about a man who visited two downtown stores making unwanted, unsolicited and inappropriate comments towards some women. The suspect was described as a college-aged man, six feet tall, slender build, dark hair and of Indian descent. A similar report was made on November 8st as he was seen in the downtown area, making a businesswoman uncomfortable while walking on the sidewalk. Since then, two other reports have been made of similar conduct by a similarly-described suspect.
Although the actions have not been identified as criminal, Chief Schawl said that they are suspicious in nature and have the attention of the police force. They are currently looking to identify and talk with the unidentified suspect. He added that those who stepped forward to make those reports were brave and they take every report of suspicious activity seriously. Schawl said anyone who sees something suspicious should call police immediately.
