An Indiana man was ordered to serve time in state prison for his part in a fatal crash in January of this year.
29-year-old Elias Jimenez had pleaded guilty to charges of accidents involving death and homicide by vehicle. Police said on January 26th, Jimenez was driving the wrong way on Route 119 south near the intersection of Lucerne Road when his car collided head-on with a car driven by 30-year-old Christopher Sipes of Greensburg. Another man in the vehicle, a 30-year-old Jeannette man, was sitting in the backseat and was killed in the crash. Jimenez fled the scene on foot, but investigators were able to find his footprints on the Hoodlebug Trail. They led investigators to the Quality Inn on Wayne Avenue, where he was found hiding under a bed.
Along with fines, court costs and restitution, Jimenez was ordered to serve one to five years in state prison for homicide by vehicle and three to six years for accidents involving death. Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
