The Armstrong County Memorial Hospital’s board of directors has signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore joining a health care affiliation group that includes Indiana Regional Medical Center and Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
The potential affiliation with the Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network will look to enhance and provide a high quality of healthcare to patients in rural counties. As part of the network, each hospital retains its local identity and operates as a separate non-profit entity and as separately licensed community hospitals. The network was formed in 2015, with the goals of “creating long-term valuable efficiencies, synergies of scale and sustainability for hospitals that are already operating at a high level of quality care and effective local management.”
Both ACMH and PMCN will explore all options with this affiliation through the end of 2023 to determine the final actions.
In a separate statement, Senator Joe Pittman praised the move, saying that it was a “great step forward for ensuring the continued delivery of health care throughout our area.” He said the partnership is one that everyone should embrace, and he will do his part to make sure to help the partnership become formalized.
