On last night’s episode of Hawk Talk, IUP coach Paul Tortorella gave an update on the injuries of quarterback Karst Hunter and tight end Cole Laney. He also previewed Saturday’s home game against Gannon.
Tort said Hunter’s MRI showed no structural damage to his knee and that there’s a possibility of him returning before the end of the season, but he won’t rush his return to in-game action out of an abundance of caution.
On the other hand, Laney’s MRI showed he has a torn labrum, which will sideline him for the rest of the season and possibly spring ball.
With three games remaining in the season, IUP is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC. Tort looked back on the up-and-down season and he said inconsistency has been a major problem.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game against Gannon, Tort said their defense wins games.
You can hear Saturday’s game at 1:30 p.m. on U92.5 FM and U92radio.com.
