It’s the ninth week of the high school football season, and it features four games on our Renda Media stations, one of them on Renda Digital TV.
The big game in the Heritage Conference is on Cat Country, 106.3 FM. 8-0 United Valley visits 6-2 River Valley in a game with a lot of District 6 ranking points on the line. United Valley coach Kevin Marabito knows River Valley will be striving to find those District 6 points.
Marabito’s Lions fell into trouble with turnovers last week against Portage. He says they can’t afford to do that against River Valley.
River Valley coach Jess Houser says his team’s seniors want to finish well, with their chances to keep playing high school football limited.
Houser says United Valley gets after you, especially on defense.
On WCCS and Renda Digital TV, 2-6 Homer-Center welcomes a strong 6-2 Purchase Line team. Both the Wildcats and Red Dragons have had to deal with season-ending injuries to key players. Homer-Center coach Greg Page says the Wildcats can’t afford to fall behind against Purchase Line’s offensive attack, which is led by John Elick and Brock Small.
Purchase Line’s Matt Falisec says Homer-Center has not broken stride with quarterback Braden Dunn replacing the injured Angelo Alexander, and the Wildcats also have a great runner in Landon Hill.
On 92.5 FM U92, two 3-5 teams that sit just outside the District 6 playoff picture meet when Portage visits Penns Manor. Both teams are looking for wins to squeeze into the playoffs. The Comets have made the playoffs 16 years in a row and coach Bill Packer says they want to extend that streak for another year.
Portage’s Marty Slanoc says his team is aware of what’s at stake.
The other Heritage Conference games tonight include 7-1 Northern Cambria, still with a shot at the conference title, hoping to extend their winning streak to eight games at 4-4 West Shamokin; The Colts will play the Coal Bowl next week against Cambria Heights, which is 6-2 and faces 1-7 Conemaugh Valley on the road tonight; and 2-6 Marion Center makes the long road trip to Shade to play 0-8 Conemaugh Township.
On WDAD tonight, it’s 2-6 Indiana on the road at 4-4 North Catholic. Because of on-site limitations at North Catholic, there will not be Renda Digital TV of tonight’s game. Coach Brad Wright says even though the playoffs are out of reach, Indiana’s players will have plenty of motivation.
The Indiana Total Therapy pregames begin at 6:30 for all of the action tonight on our Renda Media stations, except for the Homer-Center/Purchase Line broadcast, which is at 6:15.
