At Tuesday’s Indiana Borough Council work session, Police Chief Justin Schawl presented council with an after-action report on the police department’s activity during Homecoming weekend.
From Thursday night to Sunday night, Indiana Borough Police responded to 150 calls for service, which is an increase from the past few years. In his report, Schawl acknowledged the shooting at Chevy Chase, calling the mass shooting at the Chevy Chase Community Center a worst-case scenario, but he had high praise for those who responded.
Public Saftey Chairman Donald Lancaster echoed the chief’s sentiments, saying that the teamwork with all the responding agencies helped save lives that day.
In other business, it was announced that nighttime paving will take place this Thursday on South 7th Street from Philadelphia Street to the point at Wayne Avenue.
