The topic of a noise ordinance and special event permit was brought up again to the White Township Supervisors at their meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Supervisors once again heard from Kelly Coleman, who cited Sunday’s fatal shooting at the Chevy Chase Community Center, in hopes that it would expedite talks of creating both a noise ordinance and special event permit and prevent further issues down the road. Chairperson Gail McCauley reiterated to Coleman that her requests were never ignored and that it takes time for ordinances to be drawn up.
McCauley also highlighted a legal matter that could stem if an ordinance is not worded thoroughly.
Along with legal issues, McCauley said an incomplete ordinance could pose an issue with local businesses that want to host events.
Coleman said her idea of a special event permit wouldn’t put the township nor its businesses at risk, but instead creating a cooperative partnership with local law enforcement agencies.
In other business, Communications/PR Specialist Chauncey Ross announced that the portal to submit entries for the township’s Halloween decorating contest is now open. Entries must be submitted manually and the township will not be sending judges to certain locations.
